Verdict: a cleaner-looking desk, if the loaded strip fits

The full-size Bluelounge CableBox is a sensible candidate when a visible power strip and excess cable are the main sources of desk clutter. Its appeal is visual organization. We have not tested its internal temperatures, long-term material durability or compatibility with a particular strip.

Buy it only after checking the entire connected arrangement. An organizer that looks spacious empty can become awkward once large adapters and stiff cables are added. For a cramped workspace, an open cable-management approach may leave controls easier to reach and equipment easier to inspect.

Reasons to consider it

  • Covers a strip and loose cable in one place
  • Lid lifts for access
  • Black full-size option verified

Trade-offs

  • Separate power strip required
  • Bulky adapters need additional space
  • Lid is not lockable or childproof

Facts: full-size black, without the power strip

This review covers BLUCB-01-BL, ASIN B0019T0JA2. The checked Amazon title identifies black CableBox, while the manufacturer offers black and white. The support page confirms that the full-size organizer does not include a surge protector.

Bluelounge’s product page gives an approximate 16-by-6.25-by-5.25-inch exterior and a power-strip envelope up to 15 by 5.25 by 2.5 inches. Its support page gives a slightly different exterior width, 6.125 inches. Treat the footprint as approximate and verify close-clearance installations before ordering.

Features: two cable exits and a removable cover

The cover conceals the strip, while openings at opposite ends let cables leave the box. Bluelounge describes flame-retardant plastic. That material description does not make the organizer fireproof or prove that every charger can safely operate inside it.

Our practical advice is to lay out your actual devices before moving anything. Mark which cable serves which device, keep the strip’s switch reachable and check that plugs can remain fully seated. If the lid requires pressure to close, reconsider the arrangement instead of compressing cords underneath it.

Research: hiding cables versus solving their route

The full-size box and CableBox Mini are separate products. The support page describes Mini as smaller and discusses a region-specific included strip. Those details should not be used to infer the contents or measurements of the black full-size item reviewed here.

A box mostly addresses the area around the strip. It cannot by itself fix a cable stretched across a walkway, a lead pulled tight by a standing desk or a missing wall outlet. Identify the route each cable needs to take, including desk movement, before choosing a container.

We used the manufacturer’s product and support information plus the exact Amazon listing for identity. The electrical guidance below comes from safety organizations. We did not infer thermal performance from the supplied photographs or turn a plastic material claim into a certification of the completed setup.

Safety: preserve ratings, airflow and access

Follow the instructions for the power strip and every enclosed power supply, including required ventilation and whether enclosure is allowed. Leave cable exits unobstructed, keep liquids away and avoid stacking unrelated items on the box. Do not install a hot-running adapter in a confined space merely because it fits.

CPSC warns against overloading cords or strips and recommends replacing worn or cracked cords. ESFI says multiple-outlet devices should connect directly to a mounted receptacle rather than being chained together, and equipment ratings must match the intended load. CableBox changes none of those limits.

Keep the setup accessible for inspection and unplugging. Stop using equipment that is damaged, unusually hot or smells burnt. The non-locking lid is not a child-safety device. Disconnect power before reorganizing or cleaning around plugs, and follow the electrical equipment maker’s instructions; we found no need to assume a wet-cleaning method for an energized setup.

Buying: verify clearance with the plugs installed

Measure exterior placement, loaded-strip height and the space needed for cables to turn through the exits. Confirm full-size, black and BLUCB-01-BL in the selected offer. Product photographs showing a strip and cords illustrate use; those accessories are not included.

Compare the final delivered cost and return terms with an open organizer that meets the same need. Check current seller, stock and delivery on the linked listing. A neat-looking enclosure is worthwhile only if it also leaves your everyday charging and maintenance routine straightforward.

Questions: dimensions, contents and heat

Does it include outlets or surge protection?

No. The full-size CableBox is an organizer. Bluelounge says the power strip is not included; any electrical protection belongs to the separate strip you choose.

Will my strip fit?

Measure the strip and all connected plugs, then account for cable bends and access to its switch. The manufacturer’s stated strip envelope alone does not prove a fully loaded arrangement will fit.

Is it safe to pack the box tightly?

Do not crowd adapters or defeat their ventilation instructions. The box does not increase electrical ratings or remove heat. If an equipment maker prohibits enclosure, choose a different arrangement.

Is the lid childproof?

No childproof claim is established. Bluelounge says CableBox cannot be locked. Keep electrical equipment inaccessible to children and pets using appropriate safeguards.

Is this CableBox Mini?

No. The reviewed ASIN is the full-size black BLUCB-01-BL. Mini has different dimensions and may have different regional contents; do not transfer those bundle claims to this product.
