Verdict: a compact option for committed bar-soap travelers
The Matador FlatPak Soap Bar Case V2 makes the most sense if you already travel with bar soap and dislike carrying a rigid box that remains bulky as the bar shrinks. Its flexible format offers a straightforward packing benefit, provided your bar leaves enough room to roll and buckle the opening properly.
This is a research-based assessment of Black V2, not a leak or drying test. We would choose it for a small, adaptable toiletry setup rather than solely for a dramatic social demonstration. If you rarely carry soap home, use hotel toiletries, or prefer a rigid tray at the sink, the case may solve a problem you do not have.
Reasons to consider it
- Flexible shape follows the contents
- Very low manufacturer-listed weight
- Instructions printed on the closure
Trade-offs
- Correct rolling needs space above the bar
- Soap residue and scents can remain
- No independent drying-time measurement in this review

Facts: check V2 specifications rather than old listings
This review is tied to ASIN B0FT5H54ZD and the Black V2 version. Matador lists 70D ripstop nylon, a 13-gram weight and dimensions of 4 by 3.6 by 1.5 inches. Those are manufacturer specifications, not measurements taken by us.
The manufacturer describes V2 as using thicker material and expanded dimensions compared with the original. Older reviews can still explain the general idea, but their dimensions and construction should not silently become V2 specifications. Pack Hacker reports its own different measurements; we retain the current manufacturer figures and do not treat the two methods as interchangeable.

Features: flexible packing and a deliberate closure
The central feature is the combination of a roll-top opening and fabric designed to pass moisture vapor. Matador describes the closed case as leakproof while allowing a damp bar to dry through its material. That is a manufacturer performance claim. A closure left loosely folded should not be expected to behave like a properly rolled one.
For packing, the important distinction is that the pouch can conform around a smaller bar. A rigid case offers a defined cavity and firmer protection, whereas this soft pouch can settle into remaining space. That design-based comparison does not establish which is more comfortable to use with slippery hands or how either survives your particular luggage.

Research: V2 travel interest, without a viral-reach claim
Pack Hacker’s specialist review, updated May 5, 2026, explicitly covers V2 and describes hands-on use by its own team. It reports convenient packing and drying, alongside retained fragrance, soap residue and some seam fraying. Those observations belong to that publication; they are not our testing results or a predicted outcome for every case.
This is useful evidence of continuing interest in the product among travel-gear readers. It is not a count of social impressions or proof of present mass-market virality. Historical attention to the original FlatPak should also remain clearly separate from an assessment of V2.

Safety and care: keep the intended use narrow
Roll the opening at least three times and then fasten the buckle, following Matador’s directions. If a bar prevents that, reduce its size or choose a different container. Do not assume that a case described as waterproof is an approved electronics dry bag or a container for loose liquid toiletries.
Empty and clean accumulated residue between trips, then allow the pouch to dry before storage. Pack Hacker notes that scent can remain when changing bars. Matador also displays a California Proposition 65 warning concerning DMF and cancer. Read the linked warning; we have not measured exposure or made an individual risk assessment.

Buying: check the bar before buying the bag
Measure the soap you actually intend to carry, including its thickest point, and allow closure space. Also consider whether you need separate containers for soap and shampoo bars. The smallest case is not necessarily the easiest choice when several slippery pieces need to be kept distinct during a trip.
Before ordering, confirm Black V2 and ASIN B0FT5H54ZD, inspect the seller and return terms, and compare the final cost with a simple soap box you would happily use. Photos showing soap illustrate use rather than included supplies. We make no current-price, stock or guaranteed leak-prevention promise.

Questions: fit, drying and package contents
Will a large square soap bar fit?
V2 is designed with more room than the original, but fit still depends on the bar. You must leave enough material for three or more rolls. For a very large bar, Matador suggests cutting it down rather than accepting an incomplete closure.
Does Dry-Through mean the soap dries immediately?
No. It describes moisture vapor passing through the material. We have not measured drying time, and the case is not a powered dryer. Avoid interpreting a packed-soap photograph as a timed performance result.
Is the soap included?
The reviewed Amazon option is the Black V2 case. Soap shown in use photographs is a demonstration prop; do not assume a soap bar or a complete toiletry kit comes with it.
