Our research-based verdict
The original MicroTouch Titanium Trim is an interesting option for a simple, short at-home trim if holding a conventional clipper feels awkward. Its side-mounted blade and long handle encourage a comb-like movement, while removable guides set broad length steps. We would consider it for maintaining an uncomplicated cut or tidying reachable body hair, not as a shortcut to a carefully blended barber-style fade.
The design’s benefit is the different grip and reach, not demonstrated cutting superiority. A longer handle does not show you the back of your head or prevent an uneven result. Buyers who already control a conventional clipper comfortably may gain little from changing formats. We have not performed haircuts with this product or measured snagging, battery life or performance on different hair textures.
Reasons to consider it
- Side-mounted cutting head offers a different hand position from a conventional clipper.
- Extendable handle and replaceable batteries support occasional home use.
Trade-offs
- Fixed comb lengths leave large steps between settings.
- Two AA batteries need replacement; this is not Trim PRO.
- Self-cutting still requires visibility, practice and cleanup.
The original model, not rechargeable Trim PRO
This review covers the original Titanium Trim using two AA batteries. The US instructions list four length combs plus a blade guard, explaining why packaging advertises five attachments. Do not interpret five pieces as five interchangeable haircut lengths. The rechargeable Trim PRO is a different product and should not supply the specifications for this one.
| Power | Two AA batteries |
|---|---|
| Length combs | 6, 13, 19 and 25 mm; labeled ¼, ½, ¾ and 1 inch |
| Other attachment | Blade guard, separate from the four length combs |
| Handle | Extendable; exact added reach is not used as a verified US specification here |

Reach helps only when you can control the cut
The offset blade is the reason to consider Titanium Trim. You guide the tool more like a comb than a typical upright clipper. That may suit your hand position around the sides and neck, but it does not establish that the result will be easier for everyone. Before buying, think about the movements you actually find difficult and whether the new shape addresses them.
The longest guide is not symmetric in use: the instructions distinguish its single guide surface from the shorter combs. Starting with the longest option and checking the result before going shorter is more sensible than assuming a familiar guide number guarantees the exact finish of another clipper. The attachments set nominal lengths, not the quality of the blending between them.
The extendable handle can help with access, but the manufacturer warns that pulling too hard can separate it from the unit. Treat it as a positioning aid rather than a lever. For the back of the head, a useful mirror setup or another person’s help can still matter more than a little extra reach.

What was checked, and what remains untested
We checked the original US instructions, matching retailer imagery, the regional manufacturer manual and JML’s distributor listing on October 16, 2026. The sources support the two-AA format, guide set and extendable handle. They do not show how evenly this unit cuts compared with a conventional clipper on multiple hair types.
The phrase “titanium” describes the advertised blade treatment, not a measured service-life result in our review. We also avoid merging conflicting reach descriptions into one precise measurement. JML publishes 40 mm of extension while US retailer copy is inconsistent. That difference is less important than the confirmed extendable design, but matters if a specific reach determines your purchase.

Dry use does not mean every part has the same cleaning rule
The manufacturer calls for dry hair and inspection of the head and combs before use. Damaged teeth or excessive pressure can cause injury. The US guide specifies the blade guard for sensitive-area trimming; a body-grooming label is not a reason to skip the relevant attachment.
For maintenance, switch the unit off and brush away clippings. The instructions permit rinsing the removed blade head and combs, then drying them fully before reassembly. The handle may be wiped with a damp cloth, not submerged. Keep that distinction clear: permission to rinse a detached component does not make the assembled trimmer shower-safe.

Check the guide set before paying for the name
An incomplete used or open-box kit may erase the advantage of its low purchase price. Confirm the four length combs, blade guard and cleaning brush, then check battery inclusion. Compare the cost and availability of the parts you are likely to need, not only the initial tool. A standard clipper with more guide choices may be a better fit if you frequently vary your haircut.
The tagged Amazon link opens search results, not a verified exact offer. Match original Titanium Trim, AA power and the actual pictured contents. Do not rely on a mixed gallery or a title that combines Trim and Trim PRO. Check seller, condition and return terms for an opened grooming product.

Common buying questions
Is the original Titanium Trim rechargeable?
No. This review covers the two-AA version, not rechargeable Trim PRO.
Are there five haircut-length combs?
The US manual lists four length combs and a blade guard. The advertised five-piece attachment count includes that guard.
Can the whole device go under the tap?
No. Only the removed head and combs have the stated rinsing allowance; the handle must not be submerged.
Is it a good choice for a detailed fade?
The widely spaced fixed lengths are a limitation. We would compare a more adjustable clipper for precise blending.
