Verdict: convenient for the dishes washed between dishwasher loads

The OXO Good Grips Soap Dispensing Dish Brush is a sensible option if you hand-wash a few mugs, bowls, or pans at a time and prefer keeping dish soap in the tool. A button releases soap from the handle, the bristle head can be replaced, and the back of the head includes a scraper.

We would choose it for the combined brush-and-soap workflow, not on the assumption that it will reduce detergent use or last longer than a simpler brush. We have not tested the valve, leakage, bristle wear, or grip. If you already like a plain brush and pump bottle, the added reservoir is a convenience to weigh against another component to clean and maintain.

Reasons to consider it

  • Soap stored in the handle
  • Button-controlled dispensing
  • Replaceable brush head
  • Built-in scraper and non-slip grip

Trade-offs

  • Valve and cap add maintenance points
  • Refills must match the dispensing system
  • No measured soap-saving claim
  • Brush-only package does not include a storage holder

Facts: brush model 12361700

This review covers OXO model 12361700, Amazon ASIN B0BK2R8TQB. OXO specifies nylon bristles, a non-slip handle, a bottom filling cap, and a push-button valve. The current Amazon and OXO dimension fields differ, so we do not use them to promise that this brush fits a particular sink caddy or narrow container.

Features: what the reservoir and replaceable head add

The transparent portion of the handle lets you see the soap inside. OXO describes a drip-free valve that holds the liquid until the button is pressed. That is the intended operation; we have not independently verified leakage after storage, drops, or repeated filling.

The nylon bristles provide the main cleaning surface. Flipping the head exposes the built-in scraper for stuck food. Those two surfaces offer different kinds of contact, so use the one allowed by your cookware’s care instructions rather than treating a bristle-compatibility claim as approval for aggressive scraping.

OXO’s refill page describes pushing the release tab to remove a worn head and sliding on a new one. Replacing the contact surface can let you retain a functioning handle. A replacement head will not repair a damaged cap, reservoir, or valve.

Research: replacement cost matters more than a low starting price

Compare the cost and availability of compatible heads with the complete brush. A low-priced two-pack of refills is not a complete dispensing tool. The OXO catalog also includes palm brushes, steel dispensing brushes, and ordinary dish brushes, so the brand name alone is not enough to establish refill compatibility.

For frequent hand-washing, think about where the brush will drain between uses and whether the head shape reaches the items you clean most. The gallery demonstrates a cup, but that does not establish a fit inside narrow-neck bottles. A dedicated bottle brush may still be necessary.

The important unanswered questions are long-term valve reliability, bristle wear in your washing routine, and personal grip comfort. Manufacturer specifications cannot resolve those. Our recommendation therefore rests on a useful layout and documented replacement system, not a comparative durability score or an estimate of detergent savings.

Safety and care: follow the cookware and brush instructions

OXO describes the nylon bristles as safe for nonstick cookware. Your pan’s own care directions still take priority, particularly for delicate, worn, or specialty coatings. Rinse out food and grit, use controlled pressure, and avoid using a kitchen brush on bathroom surfaces before returning it to dishes.

Fill with suitable dish soap and follow the supplied instructions. We did not verify whole-handle dishwasher approval or a manufacturer-approved dilution recipe, so neither is recommended here. Rinse the working head after use and store it where it can drain. Replace a damaged or excessively worn head and inspect the handle if dispensing becomes unreliable.

Buying: check the full brush and the correct refills

Look for 12361700 and ASIN B0BK2R8TQB if you want this complete brush. Confirm what is included, then check the current seller, delivered total, and return terms. Purchase the separate storage set only if you actually want its holder.

A sensible reason to buy is that on-demand soap and a replaceable head suit your routine. A promise of zero leaks, universal surface safety, or lower soap use is not established by this research. Prices and availability can change.

Questions: filling, refills, and cookware compatibility

How do you fill the handle?

OXO says to unscrew the cap at the bottom of the handle and fill it with dish soap. Close the cap securely and use the button to dispense.

Can you replace just the brush head?

Yes. OXO sells the Soap Dispensing Dish Brush Refill in a two-pack. Its instructions say to push the tab to eject the old head, then slide on the replacement.

Can it clean a nonstick pan?

OXO describes the nylon bristles as suitable for nonstick cookware. Follow your pan maker’s care directions, avoid trapped grit, and do not interpret that description as proof that any pressure or scraper use is safe.

Does the reviewed brush come with a holder?

This review covers the brush-only 12361700 listing. OXO also sells a separate storage set. Confirm the selected package rather than assuming a holder is included.

Will it save soap or never leak?

We have not measured soap use or tested long-term leakage. The valve is a manufacturer design claim, not a verified guarantee from this review.
