Verdict

Consider this OXO container when you regularly pack a small portion of fruit and want the rinsing basket to travel with it. The basket is the reason to choose it over an ordinary snack box; decide whether that extra part solves a recurring nuisance for you.

This is a research-based assessment of the Ocean Blue 1.9-cup version. We have not performed transport leak tests, dishwasher cycles or controlled food-freshness comparisons.

Reasons to consider it

  • Removable basket for rinsing and draining
  • Window in the clipped lid

Trade-offs

  • Snack-sized rather than a large produce bin
  • Basket and gasket add parts to clean

A basket for a portable portion

The insert lets you rinse fruit or vegetables and place them above liquid collected below. Think of it as a packing convenience, not a substitute for checking whether food is still suitable to eat.

The small capacity is important. If your goal is storing a whole supermarket carton of berries, compare your actual portion with the container before buying several. A snugly packed lunch bag also needs room around the clips.

Freshness and demand have limits

OXO explains how the removable basket keeps produce out of its own juices. That does not establish a specific increase in shelf life, and we found no controlled result that would justify promising extra days of freshness.

On October 14, 2026, the exact Amazon page showed category rank #29 and 851 ratings at 4.4 stars. Ratings can pool colors or variants; no recent-purchase badge was found. These are qualified interest signals, not variant-specific sales or independent performance evidence.

Seal and clean carefully

OXO instructs users to press the lid center firmly before engaging the latches. When replacing the gasket, seat the corners and then the rest evenly. A lid that looks closed is not enough reason to skip checking the seal.

Follow the supplied directions for reheating and cleaning each part. Published microwave suitability is not a reason to improvise temperatures or assume that every lid position is permitted.

Choose it for snacks

Confirm Ocean Blue and the 1.9-cup colander version. The Teal listing uses a different ASIN; salad containers and divided lunch boxes in the wider Prep & Go range are different products.

The checked Amazon page listed New & Used offers but did not confirm a featured offer. Check condition, contents, seller and delivery before buying. We would choose this for a repeatable snack-packing routine rather than an unverified promise of longer produce life.

Questions

Is this a glass container?

No. The reviewed listing specifies plastic.

Does it have a removable strainer?

Yes. The basket is designed for rinsing, straining and nesting inside the container.

Is it large enough for a full lunch?

It is a 1.9-cup snack-oriented container. Compare that with your actual meal; the larger Prep & Go products are separate items.

Will berries last a guaranteed number of extra days?

No verified shelf-life extension is established here. The basket separates produce from collected liquid.

Is Ocean Blue the same ASIN as Teal?

No. This review links B0FNDMXGJN for Ocean Blue, not the separate Teal variant.
