Verdict: helpful organization when counter depth is scarce

The OXO Tot Space Saving Drying Rack is a sensible option if bottle parts spread across a small counter and you have room to organize them vertically. Its upright arrangement can keep a feeding setup together without a broad dish-rack footprint. Measure your intended space and think about cleaning the rack before deciding it is an upgrade.

This researched review covers the original nine-hook rack, model 62123900, Amazon ASIN B079K783F9. We have not tested drying speed, tipping resistance, or compatibility with particular bottle brands. It is an organizer for already-clean items, not a washer, sanitizer, or proof that a bottle is ready to use.

Facts: nine hooks and two removable trays

OXO describes angled pegs for bottles and cups, a top compartment for small components, and a ridged lower tray. Both trays lift out for cleaning. The selected Amazon listing identifies nine hooks and the original model number. Do not confuse it with the newer Expandable Drying Rack or assume their peg counts and dimensions are interchangeable.

Features: using height without losing track of little parts

The upright layout is the main reason to buy this design. Larger bottle bodies hang from the angled hooks while rings, valves, nipples, or other small pieces can occupy the trays. Keeping related parts near one another could make reassembly more orderly, although the actual arrangement depends on the items you use.

Nine hooks do not guarantee nine complete bottle sets fit comfortably at once. Wide bottles can occupy neighboring space, and small-part capacity can become the limiting factor before all hooks are used. Consider the complete load from a normal washing session, including any pump components, rather than counting bottles alone.

Cabinet clearance is more than the rack’s height. You also need space to lift a bottle off a peg and reach into the top tray. A corner that fits the empty rack tightly may be frustrating when it is loaded. Keep the setup stable and accessible, with room to remove and empty the lower tray without moving a collection of fragile items.

Research: practical historical coverage, no measured speed claims

The Kitchn’s review, updated May 20, 2021, describes using this rack in a small apartment and appreciating its vertical layout. That is a reviewer’s personal experience over several weeks, not our testing and not evidence that it fits every cabinet or an entire day of every household’s bottles.

We checked the original manufacturer page, exact Amazon model, and four OXO photographs. The official page lists dishwasher-safe care but its extracted specifications did not provide a usable dimension table. Amazon’s dimension labels appear inconsistent with the upright shape, so we avoid presenting a potentially transposed height as a reliable clearance measurement. Confirm assembled dimensions with OXO or the seller if your space is tight.

Safety and care: the rack itself needs regular cleaning

CDC says air-drying infant feeding items on a clean, unused dish towel or paper towel is probably more hygienic than using a rack, because racks can retain moisture and be difficult to clean. A rack is therefore an optional organization choice, not a hygiene upgrade by itself. Let items dry completely before reassembly and protected storage; do not rub them dry with a used kitchen towel.

If you choose a rack, CDC recommends reserving it for infant feeding items and washing, sanitizing, and thoroughly drying it every few days. For infants under two months, premature infants, or those with weakened immune systems, its guidance calls for at least daily rack care. Follow the rack’s compatible sanitizing method and your clinician’s advice where relevant.

OXO’s removable trays help you reach surfaces during cleaning, but they do not make the rack self-cleaning. Empty standing water and inspect crevices. The rack’s dishwasher-safe description does not determine the care instructions for every bottle or valve placed on it. Keep small loose pieces away from children, and do not load heavy glassware or oversized bottles without confirming suitable support.

A targeted October 11, 2026 CPSC search for OXO drying-rack and bottle recalls found no matching notice. This limited check is not a guarantee of safety or future recall status.

Buying: measure the loaded setup, not just the shelf

Choose the rack if you want a dedicated upright station and will keep its trays clean. A clean towel may be easier for an occasional bottle, while a wider rack may better suit a large, varied load. This is a capacity-and-layout choice, not something every new parent automatically needs.

Check the original nine-hook configuration, model 62123900, and ASIN B079K783F9. Verify assembled height, width, depth, bottle clearance, seller, final price, and return terms before ordering. Bottles and accessories in OXO’s demonstration image are props. Inspect the pegs and tray seating on arrival and follow the included care directions.
