Verdict: a tidy home for bags you actually reuse
The simplehuman Wall Mount Grocery Bag Dispenser suits a kitchen where loose plastic bags keep escaping from a drawer or an overfilled shopping bag. Its fixed location gives that collection a clear boundary, while the front opening makes the next bag easy to find. It is most useful when you regularly reuse grocery bags and have a sensible place to mount it.
This is a research-based review of the brushed stainless-steel dispenser sold under Amazon ASIN B007ZF638G. We have not tested the adhesive, dispensing resistance or long-term finish. Our recommendation depends on installation and habits: a dedicated holder adds little if most of your shopping bags are bulky fabric totes or you rarely need a spare plastic bag.
Reasons to consider it
- Top loading and front access separate refilling from retrieval
- Wall mounting frees a drawer or shelf for other items
- Brushed stainless finish can coordinate with kitchen hardware
Trade-offs
- Needs a suitable mounting surface and refill clearance
- Quoted capacity varies with bag size and bulk
- Mounting can mark the surface or require screw holes

Facts: match the wall-mounted stainless version
simplehuman identifies its current wall-mount dispenser as KT1166 and describes room for up to 30 grocery bags. Treat that as an upper capacity claim, not a guaranteed count for your collection. Thick bags, tightly knotted handles and uneven stuffing all change how much usable space remains.
The exact Amazon title and photographs match the brushed stainless wall-mounted design. However, the retrieved Amazon page did not expose a model-number field confirming KT1166. That number is the manufacturer’s identification, corroborated by the matching design. The listing’s dimension graphic gives approximately 6.6 inches wide, 3.6 inches deep and 15.6 inches high.
| Manufacturer SKU | KT1166; not exposed as an Amazon model-field match |
|---|---|
| ASIN | B007ZF638G |

| Stated capacity | Up to 30 plastic grocery bags; varies with bulk |
| Listing dimensions | Approximately 6.6 W × 3.6 D × 15.6 H inches |
| Mounting options | Listing describes screws or double-sided tape; verify included pieces |

Features: placement matters more than capacity
The top opening accepts bags and the long front slot provides access to the stored collection. Our practical inference is that this arrangement works best near the place you empty groceries or collect household waste. A cupboard installation may hide the holder, but a shelf immediately above it can make refilling awkward.
The exact listing describes screw or double-sided-tape mounting. Choose based on the actual wall or cabinet surface and the instructions supplied with the unit. Adhesive compatibility, surface finish and preparation matter; a renter should not interpret the tape option as a promise of damage-free removal. Check the included mounting pieces before starting.
Use the dispenser to keep a manageable reserve rather than compressing every bag you own inside it. If retrieval becomes awkward, reduce the load and check how the bags are packed. Keeping only clean, dry bags also makes the organizer more pleasant to use. These are ownership considerations, not results from our own dispensing or cleaning tests.

Research: an established organizing recommendation
Apartment Therapy’s small-space organizing roundup, updated June 14, 2023, recommends this wall-mounted simplehuman dispenser for surplus plastic grocery bags. That is historical editorial attention. It does not establish current social-media momentum, recent sales volume or a new wave of popularity.
We compared the manufacturer’s product page with the exact Amazon listing and inspected the selected supplier photographs. The official page establishes the SKU and opening layout; the retailer contributes the mounting description and dimension graphic. No standalone installation manual was located in the reviewed product page, so follow the instructions included with the unit for the actual mounting procedure.

Safety: secure the holder and restrict bag access
Plastic bags remain a suffocation hazard inside an organizer. Keep both loose bags and the mounted dispenser away from young children. A tidy appearance does not make accessible bags safe, and the dispenser is not a child-resistant storage product.
Check that the installation is secure before loading it. Leave room to reach the top and to open nearby doors without striking the dispenser. Avoid assuming that every painted, textured or damp surface will accept adhesive. Our targeted October 12, 2026 CPSC recall search found no matching result; that limited check is not a safety certification or a guarantee that no notice exists.

Buying: check the surface before the offer
Before ordering, measure the intended position and the space needed for refilling. Confirm the brushed stainless wall-mount version, supplied mounting hardware, seller, condition, return terms and final total. If your goal is storing reusable fabric shopping bags, a hook or basket may better fit that collection.

Questions: practical answers
Will it hold reusable fabric grocery bags?
It is designed around plastic grocery bags. Large fabric totes are a poor match for the compact compartment and front slot.
Can I mount it without drilling?
The listing describes a tape option. Confirm the supplied adhesive’s directions and surface compatibility; damage-free removal is not guaranteed.
Does it dispense exactly one bag every time?
We did not test dispensing. Bag shape, packing and fullness can affect retrieval, so avoid treating the listing’s single-bag wording as a measured result.
Do I need space above it?
Yes. The refill opening is at the top, so leave enough clearance to insert bags comfortably after mounting.
