Verdict

The Souper Cubes 1-Cup Aqua two-pack is a useful candidate for cooks who want to freeze manageable portions and then reuse their molds. It is easiest to justify when you already cook batches and actually eat the leftovers. Buying trays alone will not create that habit or guarantee lower grocery bills.

This research-based review covers two four-cavity trays with lids, not two-cup molds or a single tray. We have not tested release force, leak resistance, staining, or long-term durability. The most important qualification is that the manufacturer discourages microwaving the trays, despite broad microwave-safe language elsewhere in its marketing.

Facts

Amazon’s variation data identifies B07GSSR5V2 as Aqua, 2-Pack, and its specifications list model FT-4X1-AQ-LD-2. The manufacturer’s combined product page can default to another cavity size; check the one-cup option before comparing dimensions or bundle prices.

Features

The flexible cavities let you freeze separate blocks, while a steel-reinforced rim supports the tray. Each cavity has half-cup, one-cup, 125 mL, and 250 mL markings. Use one measurement system consistently; this is portion guidance for everyday cooking, not a calibrated laboratory measuring instrument.

The useful workflow is freeze, release, label, and store the blocks in freezer-appropriate bags or containers. That frees the molds for another recipe. Keeping everything permanently in the trays is also possible, but ties up your next batch’s equipment and may make a second purchase seem necessary sooner.

One cup is a volume, not a promise of a full meal. If you normally eat a larger bowl of soup, plan on more than one block. For a small amount of concentrated sauce, these cavities may be too large. Think through your typical leftovers before choosing the size, and make room on a level freezer shelf before filling either tray.

Research

The Kitchn’s April 9, 2026 article connects its freezer-tray experiment with creator Sarah Hart. Souper Cubes also credits Hart in a March 31 guide to mix-and-match meals. These are evidence of creator-linked attention during 2026, not verified current viral momentum for the exact Aqua two-pack.

Our recommendation comes from official specifications and care guidance, exact Amazon variant checks, and the practical fit of this workflow. We have not counted social views or verified sales. Marketplace badges are snapshots, not audited purchase volumes. Editorial enthusiasm also does not replace the manufacturer’s more specific safety and warranty qualifications.

Safety

The official FAQ says microwave use is discouraged and removes warranty coverage; any exposed steel rim makes the tray unsuitable for microwaving. Our advice is to release the food into a separate microwave-safe dish. Trays are oven-rated to 415°F, but their plastic lids must stay out of the oven. Inspect damaged silicone or an exposed rim before further use.

Wash trays and lids after each use. The brand recommends dishwashing and unscented detergent; handwashing with dish soap and a nonabrasive sponge is an alternative. Dry fully before storing. Its cleaning guide acknowledges that oils, odors, and stains can build up, so do not interpret easy-clean marketing as a promise of a permanently pristine surface.

Food safety still depends on handling. FDA guidance calls for refrigerating or freezing perishables within two hours, or one hour above 90°F. Divide large batches into shallow containers for faster cooling. Thaw in the refrigerator rather than on the counter, and reheat leftovers to 165°F measured with a food thermometer. The tray’s oven limit is not a food-doneness temperature.

Buying

Confirm all three selectors: 1 Cup, Aqua, and 2-Pack. Check that lids are included and review the seller, delivered total, and return terms. Do not compare a single-tray headline price against this pair or assume that accessories shown in a meal-prep photograph come in the box.

Measure the shelf area and the route into your freezer, including drawers and door obstructions. The best purchase is the number of trays your cooking cycle needs, not the largest bundle. If you mainly need a container that travels straight from freezer to office microwave, consider whether a separate reheating vessel makes this system more work than you want.

Questions

Choose the cavity size for the food you will portion most often. A matching color across the range does not establish matching capacity.

How do I release a frozen block?

The brand advises a brief 3–5-minute pause to loosen the frozen lid, then supporting the rim and pushing the cavity from below. Do not pry a frozen lid forcefully.

Must I buy the matching ceramic dishes?

No. For reheating, use a separate vessel suitable for your chosen appliance and large enough for the portion.

Are these leakproof lunch containers?

We have not verified leakproof transport. Treat the lids as freezer-storage covers and use an appropriate transport container if spills would matter.
