Verdict: consider it for a comb-style straightening routine
The original TYMO RING makes sense if you prefer passing a heated comb through sections of already dry hair to clamping them between flat-iron plates. Its appeal is the handling style. Buyers expecting a hair dryer, a wet-to-dry shortcut or a guarantee against damage should reconsider what they need before choosing it.
This is a research-based assessment of the black HC100, ASIN B07MMQ4BZH. We have not styled hair with it, timed a full session or measured temperature accuracy. Hair length, density, section size and technique can change how much effort any heated tool requires. Our conditional recommendation is based on its documented operation and the exact model’s manual.

Facts: the original five-setting RING
HC100US and UPC 782289527453 identify the selected US-plug version. RING Plus, RING Pink and TYMO dryer brushes are separate choices. Check the model as well as the brand name: product-family reviews may discuss controls or attachments that this original comb does not have.
The manual gives a 45-watt rating and five temperature levels from 266°F to 410°F. Power comes through a cord, not a rechargeable battery. The brand and selected listing currently show a detangling brush, two clips, glove and storage bag; the older manual’s packing list omits the separate brush, so inspect the current bundle description.

Features: sectioning and settings are the real workflow
The heating teeth work through prepared sections while you hold the handle and keep hot parts away from skin. A separate detangling step still matters. Our assessment is that shoppers comfortable dividing and controlling sections are better candidates than someone wanting to brush casually through knots while the tool is hot.
The HC100 manual says startup defaults to level four. Select an appropriate lower setting rather than assuming switch-on means minimum heat, and increase only if needed. Temperature indicators show the selected level. We do not promise a fixed warm-up time: current brand and marketplace descriptions disagree, and no timed test was performed for this article.

Research: an established social-shopping hair tool
Women’s Health published a firsthand TYMO review on December 9, 2022, explaining that TikTok demonstrations prompted the writer’s purchase. It describes the original five-setting tool. This is useful historical attention, but one editor’s experience does not predict a reader’s result or establish current social reach.
Our October 12, 2026 Amazon evidence shows enabled controls for the exact HC100 ASIN. We did not place an order. We also excluded unsupported percentage damage-reduction and speed comparisons from the article. The manufacturer’s anti-scald wording describes the design, while the manual still warns that hot teeth can cause burns.

Safety: follow the HC100 manual, not a video shortcut
Use on dry natural hair with dry hands, away from water, bathrooms and humid areas. The manual prohibits artificial hair, use on pets, and use near flammable sprays or styling materials. Keep hot teeth clear of eyes and skin. Do not rely on the shell or glove to make deliberate hot-surface contact safe.
Never leave the plugged-in appliance unattended. Keep it away from children and combustible materials; do not rest it on bedding or cover it. Unplug after use and before cleaning, let it cool, and stop using a damaged cord or malfunctioning tool. Automatic shutoff is a backup, not a reason to leave it connected.
For travel, match the received rating plate to the destination supply and use a suitable plug arrangement. The stated 100–240 V range does not remove the need to check the outlet, adapter and appliance instructions. Read the complete supplied manual before first use.

Buying: compare the correct model and bundle
Confirm original RING, HC100, black, US plug and B07MMQ4BZH. Check the actual seller, accessory list, return conditions and total. A Plus comparison or a different plug option should not silently replace the model you intended to buy.
Choose it only if you have a safe dry styling location and time to prepare sections. If drying wet hair is the missing step in your routine, evaluate a dryer separately. The affiliate link opens the current offer; prices, sellers and delivery details remain subject to change.

Questions: what the HC100 can and cannot replace
Can I use it on damp hair?
No. The HC100 manual specifies dry natural hair. This is a heated comb, not a hot-air dryer.
Is this RING Plus?
No. This review covers the original five-setting HC100. Compare Plus separately if its controls are what you want.
Does automatic shutoff prevent all accidents?
No. The manual still requires safe placement, supervision while plugged in and unplugging after use.
Can I use it on a synthetic wig?
No. The exact manual excludes artificial hair. Do not infer compatibility from a wig’s general heat-styling label.
