Verdict: useful for a regular hand-washing routine

The Joseph Joseph BladeBrush makes sense for someone who hand-washes knives and cutlery often enough to want a dedicated tool beside the sink. Its opposed bristles approach both sides of a utensil at once, giving it a more specific job than a broad dish brush. The buying question is whether that extra tool earns its space and its own cleanup routine.

This research-based review covers the green 85105 model, Amazon ASIN B01I6UGYS2. We have not tested cleaning speed, scratch resistance, grip comfort or injury prevention. Consider it for its documented layout, with the understanding that careful knife handling is still essential.

Reasons to consider it

  • Opposed bristles contact both sides of a suitable utensil
  • Textured exterior provides a defined hand-grip area
  • Compact form can fit a modest sink-side setup

Trade-offs

  • Brush itself requires hand washing and drying
  • Utensil shape affects fit and access to food deposits
  • Does not make sharp blades cut-proof or risk-free

Facts: the green model is 85105

Joseph Joseph’s US page identifies green BladeBrush as SKU 85105; gray is 85106. The retrieved Amazon model field confirms 85105. This review therefore follows the green-and-white brush rather than borrowing photographs or specifications from another color.

Official dimensions are 5.2 cm high, 8 cm wide and 7.6 cm deep, approximately 2 by 3¼ by 3 inches. The manufacturer instructs owners to wash the brush by hand. That care requirement matters for a cleaning accessory that may collect food around its bristles after each use.

Features: a focused shape with practical limits

The wrap-around body places bristles on opposing inner faces, with the gripping surface outside. In the supplier demonstration, a knife passes between those bristles. Our practical inference is that this arrangement may appeal to people who dislike wrapping a sponge around a blade. It does not establish a measured reduction in cuts or a faster wash.

The photographs also show a fork being cleaned and the brush resting over the side of a washing-up bowl. Those scenes explain the intended layout, but your bowl rim and utensils may differ. Think about the knives and serving tools you actually wash rather than assuming every thick handle, broad blade or awkward corner will pass through easily.

A dedicated brush also creates another item to maintain. Rinse trapped food from the bristles, hand-wash it as directed and allow it to dry before storage. Avoid crowding it into a wet caddy full of other tools. If a basic dish brush already handles your routine comfortably, the specialized shape may offer too little benefit to justify another accessory.

Research: dated attention, limited performance evidence

Homes & Gardens published a BladeBrush shopping feature on September 11, 2025 and described the product family as going viral. We treat that as dated editorial attention. Its historical shopping-volume claim is not evidence of present demand, and we have not carried it forward as a current sales figure.

The recommendation here comes from comparing the exact listing, manufacturer specifications and original supplier images. We did not adopt retailer ratings or customer praise as our own testing. The feature’s broad safety, accessibility and scratch-resistance suggestions also do not establish universal results for every user or utensil.

Safety: keep the blade under control

The brush is not a cut-proof guard. Keep fingers away from cutting edges, maintain control of the knife and keep the tool and sharp utensils away from children. Do not force a poorly fitting utensil through the opening. Follow the knife manufacturer’s care instructions, especially for coated or otherwise delicate finishes.

Joseph Joseph’s California Proposition 65 disclosure lists green SKU 85105 under a warning for possible exposure to 1,3-butadiene, which the notice identifies as a cancer and reproductive-harm hazard. We have not measured exposure and do not infer a risk level from that disclosure.

Our targeted October 12, 2026 CPSC recall search returned no matching BladeBrush result. This limited check does not certify safety or guarantee that no relevant notice exists.

Buying: choose the exact color and care routine

Confirm green 85105, the quantity offered, seller, condition and return terms before ordering. Check whether you have a place for the brush to drain and dry. If hand washing the accessory itself sounds like a chore you will skip, a different cleaning routine may suit you better.

The October 12, 2026 Amazon capture showed active Add to Cart and Buy Now controls associated with B01I6UGYS2. That is evidence of an exact-ASIN purchase path at the time checked. It does not promise current stock, delivery eligibility, seller authorization or an unchanged offer.

Questions: practical answers

Can the BladeBrush go in the dishwasher?

The manufacturer says to wash it by hand. Do not assume dishwasher compatibility because it is a dish-cleaning accessory.

Does it protect my hands from every cut?

No. The outer grip separates your hand from the inner bristles, but the tool does not eliminate contact with an exposed knife edge.

Will it clean forks as well as knives?

Supplier photographs demonstrate fork cleaning. Actual reach depends on the utensil shape and food deposits; inspect the utensil after washing.

Is it guaranteed not to scratch a knife?

We found no basis for a universal no-scratch promise and performed no finish testing. Follow your knife’s care guidance and avoid forcing delicate surfaces through the brush.
