Verdict: a targeted helper for seasoned cookware
The Lodge Chainmail Scrubbing Pad makes sense when cooked-on residue regularly defeats your ordinary brush on compatible seasoned cast iron or carbon steel. The steel mesh surrounds a silicone core, giving you a pad-shaped object to hold rather than a loose sheet of chainmail. We would buy it as an additional cleaning tool for stubborn jobs.
It is a poor default choice for a kitchen dominated by enameled Dutch ovens or coated nonstick pans. Those finishes need their own approved cleaning methods. This is a research-based review of red ACM10R41, ASIN B07FRVWBYT; we have not tested cleaning speed, hand comfort, scratch resistance, or the effect of repeated use on seasoning.
Reasons to consider it
- Silicone core gives the mesh a grippable shape
- 304 stainless steel chainmail
- Reusable and dishwasher-safe pad
- Compact dedicated tool for compatible cookware
Trade-offs
- Surface compatibility matters
- No long handle to separate hands from the pan
- Does not replace drying and oiling cast iron
- Seasoning-preservation claim not independently tested here

Facts: red ACM10R41, not the blue alternative
Lodge identifies the red rectangular pad as ACM10R41 and describes 304 stainless steel chainmail around a silicone core. Its product page lists 4.33 inches long, 3 inches wide, 0.75 inches high, and 0.34 pounds. These are manufacturer specifications; the Amazon listing has differing dimension fields that we have not treated as measurements.

Features: mesh outside, silicone inside
The working surface is linked metal rather than bristles or an abrasive foam. The silicone center makes the pad thicker and gives the hand something to press against. That construction is the reason to consider it over a flat chainmail cloth; whether it feels more comfortable is a personal fit question that photographs cannot settle.
The rectangular face can work across a skillet base, while the rounded, flexible edge can approach transitions in the pan. We have not established how well it reaches narrow grill grooves or tight corners. If those are your main trouble spots, compare the actual shape of your pan with a dedicated scraper or brush before choosing.

Research: the seasoning claim needs context
Lodge’s product page says this pad removes stubborn food without removing seasoning. Its general cleaning FAQ, however, advises against steel wool or metal scrubbers for daily cleanup and discusses them for rust removal. We therefore interpret this product as a specific option for difficult residue, not a reason to scour every pan aggressively after every meal.
Start with the least forceful suitable method. Lodge’s routine process is warm soapy water, complete drying, then a thin coat of oil. If a brush already handles your meals, this pad may add little. If you frequently have stuck patches, its reusable construction may be more useful than another ordinary sponge.
A tool cannot fix every underlying issue. Repeated sticking, rust, or flaking seasoning may require a review of cooking technique or the cookware maker’s restoration instructions. Do not use this review as permission to abrade an unknown coating. Our recommendation comes from product and care documents, not a side-by-side cleaning trial.

Safety and care: the pad and pan have different rules
Identify the pan’s finish first. An enameled surface can be dark as well as light, so color alone does not identify bare seasoned iron. Lodge’s enamel-care page recommends a sponge, everyday scrub cloth, or scrub brush with gentle dish soap. It does not make this chainmail pad a universal enamel-safe tool.
The pad is dishwasher safe according to Lodge. The seasoned cast iron pan is not: Lodge says dishwasher cleaning can remove seasoning and encourage rust. Wash the cookware by hand, dry it completely, and apply a thin layer of oil. Avoid leaving seasoned iron soaking in the sink.
Let cookware reach a safe handling temperature and keep a stable grip while cleaning. Inspect the mesh for damaged or sharp links and rinse trapped food out of the pad. The silicone core is a grip feature, not evidence that the pad is protective equipment for handling a hot pan.

Buying: match the scrubber to your cookware
Choose the red ACM10R41 if you want this rectangular silicone-core design and your cookware permits it. Confirm the exact ASIN, color, included quantity, seller, return terms, and delivered total. The blue variant and generic loose chainmail cloths should not be assumed to have the same shape or dimensions.

Questions: enamel, seasoning, and dishwasher use
Is it suitable for an enameled Dutch oven?
Do not treat it as an enamel-cleaning recommendation. Lodge’s enamel guidance calls for a sponge, everyday scrub cloth, or scrub brush. Choose the tool approved for your specific finish.
Can both the pad and cast iron pan go in the dishwasher?
No. Lodge says the pad is dishwasher safe, but seasoned cast iron cookware should be washed by hand. Those are separate care rules for separate objects.
Will it strip seasoning?
Lodge markets this pad for removing stuck food without removing seasoning. We have not tested that claim. Use controlled pressure and investigate a compromised or flaking finish rather than assuming harder scrubbing is harmless.
Does it replace a regular dish brush?
It is most useful as a targeted tool for stubborn residue on compatible seasoned cookware. A brush or pan scraper may be enough for everyday cleanup.
Does it include a handle?
The reviewed red ACM10R41 is a handheld rectangular pad with a silicone core, not a long-handled scrubber or powered attachment.
