Verdict: useful for a real wired-audio gap

AirFly Pro 2 is worth considering when you want your Bluetooth headphones to play audio from a seatback screen or another device with a compatible 3.5 mm headphone output. Its two-headphone capability gives it a clear purpose for shared listening. Receive mode also makes sense if you own a stereo with an AUX input.

Facts: identify the standard kit before comparing prices

The White variant’s official SKU is TS-2520; its UPC matches the Amazon listing. The standard package below differs from AirFly Pro 2 Deluxe, which adds the International Airline Adapter and a premium faux-suede travel bag. Do not assume those extras are included because they appear beside the product in travel photos.

Features: pair before departure and choose the right mode

For seatback listening, select TX and put your headphones into their own pairing mode. Pro 2 should enter pairing mode on first use; if needed, hold PAIR 1 for four seconds. The support instructions identify alternating amber and white as the pairing signal. Check that the headphones are not still connected to your phone or laptop.

The owner’s manual says the first headset must already be paired and connected before adding a second. Put the second headset into pairing mode, then hold PAIR 2 for four seconds. Rehearse this at home while you can easily look up your exact headphone model’s controls.

In RX mode, the direction reverses: a phone supplies Bluetooth audio, and AirFly plugs into an AUX input on a stereo. A headphone output and an AUX input do different jobs, so check the socket label. Volume controls and mute are available on the adapter; start quietly when trying an unfamiliar source.

Research: codec support is not a zero-delay guarantee

Twelve South lists aptX Adaptive, aptX Low Latency, aptX HD, aptX and SBC for Pro 2 transmission. Its codec guidance makes the outcome dependent on the connected headphones. An adapter’s codec list alone cannot establish the sound quality or synchronization of your complete setup. The company also acknowledges that Bluetooth latency is never entirely zero.
