Verdict: compact storage if the included bits match your jobs

The Wera Kraftform Kompakt 25 is a useful candidate for a small household repair kit when you want one handle, a retractable holder, and a few frequently used bits kept together. Its strongest argument is convenience during small jobs, especially when switching between short manual access and a longer reach.

The catch is the assortment. This exact set includes Phillips and slotted bits, so it will not arrive ready for every flat-pack furniture fastener or appliance screw. This research-based review covers ASIN B001HSNHM2 and Wera 05051024001; we have not tested torque, comfort, bit wear, or the release mechanism.

Reasons to consider it

  • Six bits stored inside the handle
  • Retractable and removable 100 mm holder
  • Rapidaptor bit retention
  • Textile pouch included in manufacturer set

Trade-offs

  • No included Torx or hex bits
  • Not a ratcheting handle
  • Not electrically insulated
  • No verified impact-use or torque rating adopted

Facts: the exact seven-piece KK25 assortment

Wera identifies part 05051024001 as Kraftform Kompakt 25 with pouch, EAN 4013288098931. The included 889/4 R holder has a quarter-inch drive and 100 mm length. The six 25 mm bits are PH1, PH2, PH3, and slotted tips measuring 0.6 × 4.5, 1.0 × 5.5, and 1.2 × 6.5 mm.

The Amazon model and part-number fields match. Its title can sound like a replacement-bit purchase, but the selected listing describes the driver set. We rely on the exact part number and contents rather than that shorthand title. Confirm the pouch and assortment on the selected offer before checkout.

Features: three holder positions with a practical purpose

The holder retracts into the handle for a shorter working configuration, extends for ordinary reach, and can be removed for a compatible power tool. This creates options without carrying a separate fixed-length screwdriver for every situation. The handle and chuck still occupy space, so “compact” does not guarantee access to a deep narrow recess.

The Rapidaptor chuck retains a compatible bit and allows quick changes through its sleeve. Wera specifies compatibility with quarter-inch hex bits in the C 6.3 and E 6.3 formats. Check that both bit and holder are properly seated before applying force.

A push-button magazine stores six bits in the handle. It reduces the number of loose pieces you need to carry, although opening the magazine and choosing a bit still takes a deliberate step. The supplied textile pouch keeps the set together during storage; it does not change the tool’s mechanical limits.

Research: assortment matters more than the piece count

For occasional household maintenance, start by inspecting the actual fasteners you encounter. If Phillips and slotted screws dominate, the included selection is sensible. If most jobs use Torx, Robertson, or hex sockets, plan additional bits or choose a set built around those profiles.

The retractable design also has a tradeoff: the mechanism is more complex than a fixed screwdriver. That does not establish that it is fragile, but it makes smooth engagement and sensible storage worth checking. We have no hands-on evidence to rank its longevity against simpler tools.

Our evidence is Wera’s exact-part datasheet, the matching retail listing, and Wera’s safety guidance. A gallery label contains inconsistent PH/PZ wording; the current manufacturer datasheet clearly lists Phillips. We excluded that graphic rather than passing the contradiction into the illustrated buying advice.

Safety: match the screw and respect the holder

Use the correct profile and size, keep the workpiece secure, and direct pushing force away from your body. Wera warns that poorly positioned screwdriver tips can slip. Inspect bits and the locking mechanism before use, and replace damaged accessories rather than forcing a worn tip.

Do not use this driver as a pry bar or chisel, strike its handle, or treat it as a calibrated torque tool. Wera’s general screwdriver guidance reserves hammer-assisted use for tools specifically designed with an impact cap or through-blade.

The KK25 is not a VDE-insulated tool. Keep it away from energized work. When using the removable holder in a compatible drill, follow the drill’s instructions and verify accessory suitability; general power-tool compatibility is not proof of an impact-driver rating. Keep the small loose bits away from children.

Buying: verify part number and usable profiles

Choose the KK25 when its storage and adjustable-length workflow solve a real inconvenience. A dedicated fixed screwdriver may be simpler for one repeated task, while a broader bit set may suit mixed furniture and equipment work.

Questions: bits, power tools, and insulation

Does this set include Torx or hex bits?

Not in the manufacturer’s 05051024001 set list. It supplies three Phillips and three slotted bits. Add correctly sized compatible bits separately if your furniture or equipment uses other profiles.

Are the cross-head bits Phillips or Pozidriv?

Wera’s current exact-part datasheet lists PH1, PH2, and PH3. A retailer-gallery label mixes PH and PZ wording, so we use the manufacturer’s explicit contents and recommend checking packaging.

Can the holder go in a drill?

Wera explicitly describes the removable 100 mm holder as a power-tool adaptor. Follow the power-tool and accessory instructions; this is not blanket approval for impact use or unlimited torque.

Is it ratcheting?

The reviewed KK25 is a standard turning handle with a retractable holder. Do not assume it has the ratchet mechanism used by other Kraftform Kompakt products.

Is it suitable for live electrical work?

No. This is not a VDE-insulated set. The green-and-black grip is not evidence of electrical insulation. Use the correct equipment and qualified procedures for electrical work.
