Verdict: a sensible shortcut for small pasta meals

The Original Fasta Pasta is worth considering when getting out a saucepan and separate colander feels disproportionate to a small pasta meal. Its useful idea is a single microwave vessel with a measuring-and-draining lid. That could suit a kitchenette or someone who regularly cooks one simple portion and wants a repeatable routine.

This researched review covers the clear Original, Amazon ASIN B000YT2XOI and model 42769. We have not cooked with it or measured boilovers, texture, cleanup time or durability. The recommendation is conditional: it needs to fit your microwave, and you need to follow its cooking chart rather than treat every pasta shape alike.

Think about the whole meal before buying. The cooker occupies the microwave while the pasta cooks. If your sauce and vegetables also depend on that appliance, a saucepan may make dinner easier to coordinate. A dedicated container earns its space only when it solves a task you repeat.

Reasons to consider it

  • Combines cooking vessel and draining lid
  • Lid includes portion-measuring openings
  • Dishwasher-safe cleanup
  • Useful without a stovetop

Trade-offs

  • Timing varies with pasta and microwave
  • Microwave must have adequate clearance
  • Hot water still needs draining
  • Not a replacement for a large stockpot

Facts: Original Clear, not the Family Size

The manufacturer identifies the clear product as the Original and lists a 1.2-liter capacity in its FAQ. That volume is not permission to fill it to the brim: cooking quantities and water levels come from the chart. The reviewed listing is one cooker with its lid, rather than a multipack or the larger Family Size.

The clear body makes the molded water-level markings relevant to everyday use. Before ordering, compare the listing’s outside measurements with the usable space inside your own microwave, including rotation clearance and room to grip the vessel. Advertised appliance capacity in cubic feet is not enough to establish that fit.

Features: the lid measures and drains, but stays off for cooking

The branded booklet specifies measuring pasta, adding cold water to the appropriate mark, and microwaving on high with the lid removed. It warns against going above water level four. After cooking, the lid goes on for handling and straining. It is not a cooking cover.

The chart distinguishes long pasta from macaroni, penne and other shapes; some entries include a stir followed by more cooking. Keep the supplied instructions nearby for your first batches. Record a successful setting for your own microwave and usual pasta instead of assuming the first result applies to every brand or shape.

Research: social attention does not establish performance

A Rossen Reports episode published January 17, 2026 lists Fasta Pasta among gadgets it describes as viral. That is dated editorial evidence of attention to the product family. We reviewed the episode description, not its complete test, so we do not attribute a test result to it or claim this clear ASIN is currently trending.

The manufacturer’s general FAQ gives an approximate cooking window, but the detailed booklet varies by pasta and portion. That distinction matters more than a dramatic short video. We found no basis here for promising universally faster cooking, perfect al dente texture, zero sticking or zero spills.

Safety: treat the water and steam seriously

Cook with the lid off. The booklet explicitly links covered cooking and overfilling with boilover risk. Follow the delivered chart and handle hot contents cautiously when fitting the lid, removing the vessel and draining over the sink. Keep hands and face out of the steam path.

Fasta Pasta says the cooker is BPA-free, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe. Those descriptions do not make every cooking method safe. Use it for its stated microwave purpose, clean food residue after use, and inspect the container and lid for damage before another hot-water cycle.

Buying: choose it for the routine, not a speed promise

Choose the Original Clear listing only after checking the selected size, included lid, seller and return terms. Prices and availability change, so this review does not present a live offer. The affiliate link below targets B000YT2XOI.

It is an appealing convenience purchase if you have microwave access, limited stovetop options and regular small pasta meals. If you usually feed several hungry people, already batch-cook on the stove, or dislike draining a container of hot water, keep using your existing pot and colander.

Questions: what to know before the first batch

Does the lid stay on in the microwave?

No. The booklet says to cook with it off. Attach it afterward as instructed for handling and draining.

Can I use one cooking time for all pasta?

No. Follow the chart for the shape, amount and water level; some shapes require a stir and additional cooking.

Is a turntable essential?

The booklet says a turntable is not required, but use it when available and ensure the cooker can rotate freely.
